Bill Gates Visited Ethiopia May Cooperating with Lifan


 On July 21, 2016, the Co-chairman of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Mr. Bill Gates paid a visit to Ethiopia. The special advisor of Ethiopian Premier Mr. Arkebe Oqubay, Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Tedros Adhanom, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Mr. La Yifan, ambassador of Mission of China to the African Union Kuang Weilin, the member of Ethiopia-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Lifan Motors Mr. Mark Ma met with Bill Gates, exchanging ideas for deepening the cooperation in Africa.


Bill said, Africa is the main focus of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The foundation will enlarge the investment in medical treatment and agricultural field in Africa. The Ethiopia Project is carried out with high efficient and good reputation, which is one of the countries the foundation will focus on cooperation. China is the key partner of the foundation and the Beijing office is one of the largest offices of the foundation. China, relying on its extraordinary manufacturing strength, has made up the deficiency of the foundation. The foundation is willing to discuss with China for the cooperation possibility in Africa especially in Ethiopia.


After knowing the investment situation of Lifan Motors in Ethiopia, Bill Gates said he was quite interested in Ethiopian and even African auto industry. The cooperation between Lifan and Microsoft Auto can be taken into consideration in the future.

As learned, Microsoft announced to develop auto system through cooperating with the auto manufacturer early in 2007. The technology is based on Microsoft Auto which is an embedded system taking Windows CE as basis. As known, Sync system inlays hands-free calls, route guidance, search tool, player and voice control, which can also realize good interaction with smart phone.
