Zhou Liqun: Lifan Sets Best Practice for Investment in Russia

On May 13, the Committee Member of Foreign Affairs in Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Vice President of Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) Zhou Liqun accepted the newspaper reporter's interview, while his attending The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) in Beijing. He stated that Chongqing enterprises had set best practices for “Going Out” and investing in “The Belt and Road”.

Mr. Zhou Liqun introduced that in 2010 the China Chengtong Group European Investment Management Business Development Center opened the Greenwood International Trade Center in Moscow. And Lifan Motors is the first Chinese company to enter into contracts for space in the center. Presently, Lifan Motors has been well-developing in Russia and receives good reputations from Russian customers.

The success of Lifan Motors also leads more Chinese companies to invest in Russia. Now, there are more than 300 Chinese companies entering in Moscow Greenwood International Trade Center. And with the opening of BRF, more and more Chinese companies will be attracted to invest in Russia.

Mr. Zhou Liqun continued that “The Belt and Road” construction involves multiple fields such as diplomacy, finance, investment and trade. The enterprises would take the important responsibility of projects construction in “The Belt and Road” areas. He believed that when domestic companies “Go Out” to implement projects investment and joint construction with other countries, there would be a great demand for international talents with specialized knowledge, high-level business management skills and familiarity with many foreign languages.

He pointed out that, with the release of “Vision and Actions on Jointly Building Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road” planning, China has promoted the top-level design and strategy layout of “The Belt and Road” construction and required for “wide-ranging, multi-layer, international, comprehensive” talents. However, due to the underdeveloped international talents cultivation system, the traditional cultivation methods and flowing mechanism cannot meet the “The Belt and Road” construction’s requirements on the international and comprehensive talents.

“In order to highlight the cultivation of international talents, the relevant departments shall pay more attention on supporting and seeking for better countermeasures.” Mr. Zhou Liqun said.
